The space of the dwelling was fragmented into small spaces, connected by dark corridors and in poor relation with the outside. Through a permeable gallery, between the street and the inner courtyard, an attempt was made to illuminate these spaces and to create a sequence of inhabitable thresholds

A mid-twentieth century house, located in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, with narrow, dark spaces, has been renovated by the Carles Enrich Studio which, through the design of a permeable gallery, illuminates all living spaces
Another objective of the project was to discover and exploit the layers of materials that had been hidden over the years, removing layers in the ceiling, walls and floors and demolishing some of the partition walls to use the concrete tiles and bricks
The result is a succession of rooms, connected by large porticoes, which create a certain visual depth. New structures have been added to facilitate habitability for the occupants: a wooden element that acts as a corridor, storage space and a pergola, a structure with bars and metal ropes, in the inner courtyard
