Since Radzionków was hit by the new era of development, the urban landscape has been rapidly changing. In the past, there was a long-standing military colony, whose traces such as barracks and social housing for workers could still be found in the city
One of these locations was chosen as the location for the new Kanlux office building. The pavilion consists of four adjacent cuboids, with an inner atrium serving as a military canteen. The project aimed to create a camouflage to hide the imperfections of the post-military structure
The metal "cable trays", typically used to suspend cables in office buildings, were perfect for covering all types of imperfections in the building's structure. The first step, however, was to increase the height of the building, as well as replacing the woodwork with black wood
The next step was to install a shell on the elevation that made the overall appearance of the building more linear, making it possible to screen what was happening inside. At the same time, the use of perforated walkways made it possible for people inside the building to see. This solution also proved to be successful in terms of eliminating the extra heat inside the buildings
The new perforated shape has introduced an intriguing light effect, fully compatible with the profile of the company that produces lighting solutions. The height of 9 meters creates an impression that regardless of the perspective from which you look at the building, it is difficult not to recognize its monolithic and solid structure, while the prefabricated elements are part of the local building tradition in Silesia and remain in perfect harmony with the local architecture
