From abandoned wine factory to a Hotel by the sea. Preserved and valorised history

On the west coast of Greece, the architecture studio k-studio has the task of transforming an abandoned winery from the 1920s into a hotel by the sea, which preserves the history and raw beauty of the original structure

The entrepreneur Nikos Karaflos contacts k-studio with the idea of transforming an abandoned wine factory on the west coast of Greece into a hotel. The main materials are concrete, steel, glass and wood to mention a nautical connection of the site to the sea. But the new construction has also left the buildings relatively intact to maintain their strong presence. The key design of the hotel contrasts and cleverly balances the old and the new using an industrial palette in an elegant way
