BIG and LEGO bring the classic LEGO brick to an architectural scale, forming vast exhibition spaces and public squares that embody the culture and values at the center of all LEGO experiences
Fusion of urban space and LEGO fun
Thanks to its central location in the heart of Billund, the 23-meter-high LEGO House is designed as much as an urban space as an experiential center. 21 stacked blocks, simulating interlocking LEGO bricks. The square appears as an urban cave without visible columns and is publicly accessible, allowing visitors to connect to the building. The LEGO square is enlivened by an urban character, welcoming residents and visitors to the café, restaurant, LEGO store, and facilities
Color-coded areas for varied learning experiences
The upper floors create ascending paths and include four play areas organized by color and programmed with activities that represent a certain aspect of a child's learning: red is creative, blue is cognitive, green is social, and yellow is emotional. Guests of all ages can experience an immersive and interactive experience, express their imagination, and, last but not least, be challenged by meeting other builders from around the world
Masterpiece Gallery showcasing LEGO creations
In the Masterpiece Gallery we find the collection of all LEGO creations. It is made with the iconic 2x4 brick and showcases art under eight circular skylights reminiscent of the studs on the brick. Like the golden ratio, the proportions of the brick are found in the geometries of everything man-made in the building, from glazed ceramic tiles on the steps and walls to the overall 21-block pattern
LEGO redefines architecture, promoting creative freedom
Being able to enter a space created with LEGO bricks is every child's dream, and being able to do it for real, stimulated by geometries and colors, makes this Architecture more than just architecture, bringing it back to its necessary function, "the freedom to change the surface of our planet"
